Originally developed as a concept for the Tokyo Biennale 2025 open call, Color of Us is a functional interactive art app publicly debut at a gallery event in New York City. Inspired by the Japanese concept of sanpo—a quiet, intentional way of moving through the world—the project invites participants to pause, notice how they feel, and choose a color that reflects that moment.
Through a series of poetic prompts, the project generates a personal haiku, shaped by the participant’s emotion, location, and color. This text then becomes the seed for a unique visual artwork, created live using generative AI tools.
Each visitor leaves with their own digital keepsake—and the knowledge that their response becomes part of a larger, evolving piece. Color of Us connects people not through shared backgrounds, but through shared presence—turning color and poetry into bridges between strangers.
🔍 How It Works
- Uses geolocation and GPS decimal "noise" to create a unique color palette
- Applies reverse geocoding to identify your city or neighborhood
- Combines with your emotional input to inspire a real-time haiku and custom generative artwork
